Japan’s H3 Rocket Fails to Lift Off

Japan’s H3 rocket failed to lift off on Friday because of ignition failure. It is Japan’s first new medium-lift launcher in three decades. According to sources, two secondary booster engines strapped to the side of the space vehicle didn’t ignite.

Even after the launch countdown reached zero, the H3’s main engine the 57-metre (187ft) rocket did not take off from the launch pad at the Tanegashima spaceport. This Japanese rocket had payloads like the ALOS-3 land observation satellite, which is also equipped with an infrared sensor designed to detect North Korean ballistic missiles.

Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) is investigating the cause of this H3 rocket launch failure.

Japan built the H3 to enhance its independent access to space.
