Kanjhawala Horror Rerun in WB’s Siliguri; Dumper Drags Scooter Rider to Death

Siliguri: A scooter rider was dragged by a dumper truck for over 1 km in West Bengal’s Siliguri on Thursday. The victim identified as Ananta Das died in this accident, which was almost a repeat of the Kanjhawala incident that claimed the life of a girl in Delhi.

The driver of the dumper truck has been arrested. According to police sources, the ill-fated man was hit by the dumper truck while he was returning to his home. The truck hit the scooter-borne victim in front of the University of North Bengal campus at around 8.30 pm. He and his scooter got stuck to the dumper that tried to escape from the spot.

The deceased, Ananta Das, is a trader. He was returning from Bagdogra to his home when he was hit by the dumper truck. Being dragged by the truck, his scooter caught fire. The body of the victim was burnt down by the fire emitting from his scooter.

This accident reminded Delhi’s Kanjhawala hit-and-run case where a 20-year-old girl named Anjali was dragged for 12 kilometres. She died in a horrific manner.
