‘Lord Hanuman’ is the Mascot of Asian Athletics Championships

‘Lord Hanuman’, the revered Indian God of the Ramayana will be the official mascot of the Asian Athletics Championships beginning in Bangkok on Wednesday. Lord Hanuman’s Thai artistic depiction will be the mascot of this sporting event.

“As Hanuman exhibits extraordinary abilities in (Lord) Rama’s service, including speed, strength, courage, and wisdom … Hanuman’s greatest ability is, in fact, his incredibly staunch loyalty and devotion,” the Asian Athletics Association said on its website.

This major Asian athletics event coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Asian continental governing body.

The Indian team left for the five-day Asian Athletics Championships on Saturday night from Delhi and Bengaluru.
