Male Child Craving Man Arrested by Police for Torturing Wife & Daughter

Bhubaneswar: Personnel of Infocity police station in the capital city of Odisha arrested a person allegedly beating up his wife for not having a male child, on Friday. He is also accused of torturing his daughter.

The arrested man was identified as Gayadhar Pradhan of the Janla Upara Sahi area. His wife Ruby had registered a complaint against him with the police.

According to Ruby, her husband Gayadhar was beating and torturing her and her elder daughter for the last four years. He also burnt the body of her daughter with lighted cigarette butts, Ruby alleged.

According to sources, Ruby married Gayadhar in 2011. One year later they were blessed with a daughter. After six years, they again planned for a child. This child was again a girl. This irked Gayadhar, who always wanted to have a male child.

Gayadhar started torturing Ruby blaming her for the two daughters she had conceived. Ruby alleged that Gayadhar had threatened to get married for the second time to have a son. He also tortured his parents who opposed his intentions.

When the situation became intolerable, Ruby approached the police for action against her husband.
