Mamata Banerjee, Udhayanidhi Stalin to Visit Train Accident Site, CM Naveen Patnaik Already There

 

Bhubaneswar: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will visit the site of the tragic three-train accident site in Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday to take stock of the situation. She will reach Balasore by helicopter which will take off from Dumurjala in Howrah district.

A 12-member medical team from Bengal accompanied by 25 ambulances and two hearse carriers has already reached the accident site to assist the ongoing relief and rescue operations.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu officials headed by Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin have started for Odisha on Saturday morning to meet the victims of the train accident from Tamil Nadu. Udhay, who will be accompanied by Transport Minister SS Sivasankar and 3 IAS officers, is expected to leave for Odisha in a flight from Chennai. The team will offer assistance and arrange transport for people willing to return to TN from Odisha.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik reached the accident site on Saturday morning to review the rescue operation. He also went to the Balasore hospitals to monitor the treatment of the injured.

CM Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep concern over this major train accident in Balasore district. He said saving the lives of injured passengers is now the top priority of the government. On Friday evening, he visited the SRC Office and took stock of the situation.

The Chief Minister will visit the accident site tomorrow morning and review the situation, sources said.
