Man behind Alappuzha-Kannur Express Train Arson Nabbed from West Bengal

New Delhi: The Kannur railway police nabbed accused Pushanjit Singh in West Bengal on Thursday of allegedly torching a coach of the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express. The railway police confirmed that fingerprints collected from the coach matched with him.

Of the 10 fingerprints collected from the train coach which was gutted in a fire, four belonged to the arrested man, reported Onmanorama. The man reportedly claimed he is a beggar.

Central agencies like the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived at the scene on Friday and are investigating all angles.

The incident occurred at 1:25 am on Thursday when the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express train (16307) was stationed at Kannur railway station. Three fire department teams worked for hours to extinguish the fire; however, the coach was completely destroyed.
