BHU Researchers’ Get German Patent For Work On Combating Covid-19

Varanasi: The researchers of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) have been granted a German patent for coming up with a novel therapeutic approach against Covid-19.

Reportedly, the patent was granted by the German Patent and Trade Mark office (DPMA) to the team of researchers led by Prof Parimal Das, for their work which is being considered as breakthrough research in the fight against Covid-19.

The researchers’ team comprised Prof Parimal Das, Prashant Ranjan, Neha, Chandra Devi, Dr. Garima Jain, Prashasti Yadav, Dr. Chandana Basu Malick, and Dr. Bhagyalaxmi Mohapatra from the Centre for Genetic Disorders, Institute of Science, the BHU said.

The interdisciplinary team of researchers spent considerable time and effort in developing the ‘cutting-edge’ solution, combining their expertise in virology, pharmacology, and molecular biology, added the statement.
