MEA Official Arrested on Charges of Spying for Pakistan

New Delhi: An official of the Ministry of External Affairs named Naveen Pal was arrested by Ghaziabad Police on charges of espionage. Acting on inputs from the Intelligence Bureau, police arrested him.

As per the FIR filed against Naveen Pal, he had passed on classified information, related to the Ministry of External Affairs documents and the G20 meeting, to a person in Pakistan’s Karachi.

Naveen Pal became part of the espionage racket through a woman with whom he came in touch through social media.

Although the woman’s number was from Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, its IP address was found to be from Karachi.

Several copies of documents, related to the Ministry of External Affairs and the G20, were found on Naveen’s mobile phone. They were saved with the name “secret”.

A woman from Rajasthan’s Alwar also made e-transfer of some money to Naveen’s account. Police are searching for this woman.
