More Passenger Buses to Connect Odisha and Bihar Via Jharkhand

Bhubaneswar: Direct bus services between Odisha and Bihar via Jharkhand are being streamlined. State Transport departments of Odisha and Bihar entered an agreement for passenger bus services on 33 routes via Jharkhand.

Earlier buses were plying between Odisha and Bihar on 15 routes. With more buses operating between these two states, there would be a boost to tourism. Places related to tourism, pilgrimage, and educational importance of both states are being connected through bus services.

Places like Patna, Biharsarif, Deoghar, Gaya, Aurangabad, Darbhanga, Rajgir, Bhagalpur, Buxer, Siwan, Aara, Hajipur, Chapra and Nawada would have direct bus services from Odisha’s Puri, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Baripada, Balasore, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Sundergarh.

Brajabandhu Bhol, Secretary, State Transport Authority, Odisha said, “The agreement between the transport departments of Bihar and Odisha would also help in strengthening the cultural roots.”

In the future similar agreements with West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State Transports are also on the anvil.
