Mumbai Woman Arrested for Killing Mom; Chopping Body to Store in Cupboard for 3 Months

Mumbai: Personnel of Mumbai’s Kalachowko police station arrested a woman in connection with the murder of her mother on Wednesday. On Tuesday, police recovered the decomposed body of her mother from a cupboard in her house. The corpse had stab marks. A case under section 302 of the IPC and the Arms Act was registered against arrested accused identified as Rimple Prakash Jain.

According to police sources, this widow was murdered in the month of Dec. After killing the woman, her daughter chopped off both her arms & legs using sickles, cutter and a small knife. She did this to pack the corpse in a cupboard. Police have recovered sickles, cutter and a small knife from the house of the deceased woman.

The arrested 23-year-old woman was discovered to be living with the body of her dead mother stored in a cupboard for around three months. The body of the deceased woman was wrapped in a plastic sheet and hidden in the cupboard by her daughter.

The body of this widow was discovered by police on Tuesday night. They were searching for this missing widow named Veena Prakash Jain (55), following a missing complaint lodged by her brother’s family.

Initially, the daughter of this missing widow did not allow the police team to enter her home in Peru Compound in the Lalbaug area. Later police recovered the decomposed body from the house. Deceased Veena Prakash Jain had sustained stab wounds while other parts of her body like hands and feet were cut, said police sources.

Deceased Veena’s brother used to support her with monthly financial help. But during the past three months, despite several visits, the brother could not meet his elderly sister Veena. Each time the daughter made some excuses that ‘she was out’ or ‘was resting’. So, a missing complaint was lodged.
