NHRC Seeks Report of Infant Deaths in Odisha’s Koraput

Bhubaneswar: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the Odisha Government to submit a report on action taken in the mysterious and unexplained deaths of newborn babies in Koraput district.

According to sources, human rights activist Akhanda brought infant death cases to the notice of NHRC.

On December 3, the two-month-old baby boy of Pintu Suna in Nuagada village died followed by a three-month-old baby boy of Dilip Ganda of the same village. Three days later, one more such death was reported from Sasahandi and Baliguda and Narigaon villages on December 13th. In Bibaliguda village, another 14-day-old infant died in a similar manner during this period.
