Night Long Protest by BJP & Cong Corporators in Cuttack’s CMC Office

Cuttack: BJP and Congress corporators sat on a night-long demonstration protest outside the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) office to protest against alleged “officer raj”. They demanded the transfer of the chief executive engineer and also demanded the withdrawal of a bill that was passed by the CMC in their absence.

Cuttack mayor Subas Singh and Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim held discussions with the agitating corporators. But the corporators did not end their agitation. The protesting corporators wanted the CMC Commissioner Nikhil Pawan Kalyan to come to them to have a discussion, which did not happen.

On Monday corporators of the opposition BJP and Congress created unruly scenes during the 8th Council Meeting of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC). The Congress corporators alleged that the elected Congress MLA was not invited during the inauguration of various projects. They were supported by the BJP corporators.

Walking out of the CMC meeting, Congress and BJP corporators first sat in protest inside the house and then outside the house. They also expressed strong displeasure over the activities of a certain executive engineer and demanded his immediate transfer.
