Odisha Bank Official Commits Suicide After Being Blackmailed With Nude Calls

Subarnapur: A bank official committed suicide after being blackmailed with nude calls. After investigating Sonepur police arrested two persons from Rajasthan.

The accused were identified as Mehboob and his aide Adil.

The deceased identified as Divya Ranjan Mishra’s body was fished out by the rescue team on August 9. He was working as an agriculture officer with the Punjab National Bank’s Barpali branch in Bargarh district. He took the extreme step of ending his life as he was being blackmailed by the accused with nude video calls.

Reportedly, the deceased was under mental stress due to the blackmailing.

The deceased jumped into the river in the Dunguripali area of Sonepur district on August 7. His body was recovered after two days on August 9.

According to sources, a five-member criminal gang from Rajasthan demanded money from Divya by blackmailing him with nude video calls. The accused identified themselves as CBI officials and threatened the bank officer.

Divya had transferred around Rs 26 lakh to five bank accounts of the accused in 40 installments.

Police got the clue of blackmailing while examining the deceased’s bank transfers after his death.

The police arrested the duo and brought them to Odisha while further probe by police was underway.
