Odisha Cabinet Approves Creation of Principal Secy Post for Former IRTS Officer Manoj Mishra

Bhubaneswar: To engage former IRTS officer Manoj Mishra, the Odisha cabinet has approved creation of one post of Principal Secretary, a notification issued by GA &PA department said on Friday.

After his resignation from Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) cadre of the Ministry of Railways, in December 2022, Manoj Mishra was appointed as principal secretary of the Electronics and Information Technology department on a contractual basis.

This appointment came a day after the IRTS officer’s resignation was accepted by the Ministry of Railways. This 2000-batch officer was on central deputation to the state and served as secretary of the same department.

Opposition BJP had demanded cancellation of Manoj Mishra’s appointment seeking explanation for appointment of a non-IAS to an IAS-cadre post.  BJP leaders had termed the appointment of Manoj Mishra as illegal and unconstitutional.
