Pak PM Forms Committee to Decide Cricket Team’s Participation in ODI World Cup

A high-level committee, headed by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto, was formed by Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to decide on Pak cricket team’s participation in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

The committee will take into account all aspects of India and Pakistan, situation in India for the players, officials, fans, and media before submitting its decision to the Pak PM.

The 50-over ODI World Cup begins in India on October 5.

The Pakistan Cricket Board, however, has conveyed to the ICC and the BCCI that Pakistan team’s participation in this World Cup is subject to government clearance because of the tense relations with India.

The Pakistani authorities have already indicated to the PCB that a high-level security delegation would be sent to India to inspect the venues where Pakistan’s matches are scheduled.

The much-awaited World Cup game between India and Pakistan is scheduled to be held at the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15.
