Palghar Sadhu Lynching Case: CBI to Investigate, Maharashtra Govt Tells Supreme Court

New Delhi: The Palghar sadhu lynching case will be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for investigation, informed Maharashtra government to the Supreme Court on Friday. On April 16, 2020, two sadhus and their car driver were lynched to death by a mob at Gadchinchle village in Palghar district.

The lynched sadhus were on their way to Surat in Gujarat to attend the last rites of their guru. The mob suspected them to be child lifters because of rumours circulating on WhatsApp.

Around 250 people were arrested and chargesheeted in this sadhu lynching case by the Maharashtra Crime Investigation Department. Several minors were also detained in the case.

Now the Maharashtra government has decided to handover the case to the CBI for investigation.
