Petitions Against Agnipath Scheme Dismissed by Delhi HC

New Delhi: Central government’s Agnipath scheme for military recruitment was upheld by the Delhi High Court on Monday. All petitions filed against the Agnipath scheme were dismissed by the court.

The Delhi High Court said it does not find any reason to interfere with the scheme. “Agnipath scheme was introduced in the national interest and to ensure that armed forces are better equipped,” a division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad said while pronouncing the judgment.

Several petitions were filed in High Courts across the country against the Agnipath scheme with pleas to halt the recruitment processes. The Supreme Court later transferred all these cases to the Delhi HC.

There were at least 23 petitions which were filed challenging the scheme and all the petitions were dismissed by the court.
