Ex-MLA Maharani Rasamanjari Devi, the Last Queen of Tigiria Passes Away at 96

Bhubaneswar: Former MLA, Maharani Rasamanjari Devi, who also was the last queen of Tigiria Estate, an erstwhile princely state of colonial India passed away at her home on Sunday. Age-related problems caused her death. She was 96.

She was also elected from Athagarh Assembly Constituency on a Janata Dal party ticket in 1977. She remained a lawmaker till 1980.

As per reports, her last rites will be performed at the royal cremation ground on Monday. A large group of people including dignitaries like State Animal Resources Development Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain visited her house to pay their last respects.

As per reports, Rasamanjari was married to the last king of the Tigria Estate, the late Brajaraj Birabar Kshatriya Champatisingh Mohapatra.

A condolence motion was moved in the Odisha assembly by CM Naveen Patnaik on the demise of former MLA Rasmanjari Devi. The LoP Jayashankar Mishra and Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja extend support to the condolence motion.
