PM, Odisha CM Greet Citizens on Akshaya Tritiya

Bhubaneswar: People in Odisha are celebrating the popular agrarian festival ‘Akshaya Tritiya’ on Friday.

On this day, peasants of Odisha perform traditional ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’, the ritualistic beginning of the agricultural process in their paddy fields by sowing seeds after ploughing their lands.

Akshaya Tritiya is also celebrated as the birth of Lord Parsurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is also the day when Maharshi Veda Vyasa started dictating the Mahabharata to Lord Ganesha.

Construction of chariots of Puri’s Rath Yatra begins on this day.

Chandan Yatra Begins on Akshaya Tritiya

This day also marks the beginning 21 day-long ‘Chandan Yatra’ festivities of Lord Jagannath in Puri.

PM Narendra Modi, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended their greetings to the people of Odisha on this auspicious occasion.

Odisha CM extended his best wishes on X and wrote, “…May a good harvest this year bring happiness and prosperity in everyone’s life”.

 

“I hope that this auspicious occasion brings new energy and enthusiasm in the lives of all,” PM Modi wrote on X.
