Prez Offers Prayers at Lingaraj Temple, Walks Barefoot from Bindu Sagar to the Shrine

Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu, who is on her two-day visit to Odisha since Friday, reached the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar to offer her prayers.

The President reached the Bindu Sagar lake before entering the Lingaraj temple. Making changes in her schedule she preferred to walk barefoot from the holy Bindu Sagar to the Lingaraj Temple. Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal was present at the gate of the eleventh-century Shiva temple to welcome her.

According to sources, President Murmu offered prayer to Lord Lingaraj by performing Jalabhishek and Kshirabhishek of the Shivling inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. President’s daughter Itishree Murmu accompanied her during the visit to the Lingaraj Temple.

From Lingaraj Temple, President Murmu left for Cuttack where she is to inaugurate the 2nd Indian Rice Congress at ICAR-National Rice Research Institute.

On Friday she took part in the Foundation Day celebration of the Jnanaprabha Mission at Utkal Mandap and the 2nd Convocation of Rama Devi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar.

It is second visit of President Murmu to her home state after she assumed the charge of the highest constitutional post of the country.
