Quarrel Over Vegetables: Man Stabs Brothers, Kills One, Injures Another

Chennai: A quarrel over vegetable shopping between brothers led to a murder and serious injury of another in Chennai. A 24-year-old accountant stabbed his two younger brothers during a violent quarrel. One of them died while the other was critically injured.

The incident occurred at their home in Chennai’s Kolathur area in the wee hours of Tuesday. The injured brother, a college student, is admitted to a hospital.

Personnel of the Madhavaram police station arrested the accused, V Suresh. The court later sent him to jail.

These three brothers ran an eatery. Srikanth, the younger brother of the accused, asked him to go to the nearby market and buy vegetables for their eatery. But, Suresh refused and asked Srikanth to make the marketing the next day.

This led to an altercation between them. In a rage, Suresh stabbed Srikanth with a kitchen knife. The other brother, Srinivas, who tried to stop Suresh, was also stabbed in the chest. Hearing the shouts, neighbours reached the spot and rushed the injured brothers to a nearby hospital. Srinivas succumbed to his injuries.
