Rainfall drenches Coastal Odisha; Warning for these districts

Bhubaneswar: Due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, coastal areas of Odisha are receiving significant rainfall. The system is likely to cause heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts of the state today.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Balasore and Bhadrak,” the Regional Meteorological Centre here forecasted.

“The low-pressure area over west-central Bay of Bengal & neighborhood now lies over the west-central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast & neighborhood with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards towards Andhra Pradesh coast during next 24 hours,” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
