Ram Navami Violence Continues: Explosion in Bihar’s Sasaram, Internet Suspended in Parts of Bengal’s Hooghly Dist

New Delhi: An explosion was reported from the Mochi Tola area of the Sasaram town in Bihar’s Rohtas district on Monday morning. This blast two days after a bomb explosion injured six people in Sasaram on the day of ram Navami on March 30. This is the latest addition to the continuing violence and arson that marred Ram Navami celebrations across the country on March 30.

Locals of Sasaram said that they heard “Jai Shree Ram” chants too, reported India Today. A series of clashes occurred in Rohtas district following the Ram Navami procession. To maintain the law and order situation, the authorities imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC in Sasaram.

Prohibitory orders are in force in West Bengal’s Hooghly district, where clashes broke out between two groups during a Ram Navami procession. Internet services have also been suspended in some parts of the district till 10 pm on Monday.

Meanwhile, Governor C V Ananda Bose said those behind the violence will be put behind bars. Condemning the violence, west Bengal’s Industry Minister Shashi Panja alleged that the BJP was trying to destroy peace and tranquility in the state.

Violence during Ram Navami celebrations had rocked parts of neighbouring Howrah district on Thursday and Friday, leading to the arrest of 45 people.
