Rapist Teacher Sentenced 20 Years in Jail for Sexual Assault on Minor Girl Student  

Balasore: A teacher was convicted by a special POCSO court in Balasore on Monday for raping a minor girl student. The POCSO court sentenced this teacher named Basant Das to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. The convict was also fined Rs 50,000, failing which he will serve additional two years in jail.

The POCSO court also directed the District Legal Services Authority to provide Rs 4 lakh monetary assistance to the victim’s family.

According to police chargesheet, Basant Das, a resident of the Rampur area in the Balasore district, had lured a minor girl through chocolates and raped her at his residence under Simulia police limits in 2019.
