Retired Assistant Engineer Gets Three Years Jail Term in Graft Case

Bhubaneswar: A vigilance court in Berhampur of Ganjam district convicted a retired assistant engineer in a corruption case and sentenced him to three years imprisonment.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convicted retired engineer. In default of payment of fine he would undergo further rigorous imprisonment for three months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act, 1988.

Panda was chargesheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Berhampur U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act, 1988/109 IPC for possession of disproportionate assets (DA).

After his conviction, Odisha Vigilance will move the concerned authority to stop his pension.
