Chandigarh: A Rs 100 crore defamation case was filed in a Punjab court against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his party’s poll promise of taking strict action against Bajrang Dal in Karnataka.  This case was filed in the Sangrur district court.

The Sangrur district court has summoned Kharge before the court on July 10 in connection with the case. This defamation case was filed by Hitesh Bhardwaj, the founder of Hindu Suraksha Parishad.

In the party manifesto for the Karnataka assembly elections, the Congress promised to act tough against outfits like Popular Front of India (PFI) and Bajrang Dal if the party came to power in the state.

The petitioner has filed a defamation suit against the Congress president for it.
