Haryana Communal Violence: 3 Including 2 Homeguards Killed

Chandigarh: Three persons, including two Home Guards, were killed and more than 50 persons were injured during a communal clash in Haryana’s Nuh. This communal clash started during a VHP procession.

According to police sources, the homeguards were shot dead. Another person was killed in the overnight violence. The clash occurred when a mob tried to stop the religious procession in Nuh’s Khedla Mod.

Government and private vehicles were targeted by the mob. Towards evening, violence spread to the Gurugram-Sohna highway, where several cars were torched and stones were thrown at the police. , sources said.

About 2,500 people, who were part of the procession, were rescued by police later in the evening.

Police have registered about 20 cases and detained several people in connection with the communal violence.

Internet services have been suspended in Nuh to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours. Schools, colleges, and educational institutions in Gurugram and Faridabad districts will remain closed on Tuesday.

Reports say the clash was triggered by an objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal activist.
