Rs 300 Cr Fine Collected from Ticketless Passengers by Central railways in 2022-23

New Delhi: The Central railways earned Rs 300 crore as fines collected from ticketless passengers during the 2022-23 financial year. It is the highest fine collected by any railways zone in India. This also hints at the extent of ticketless train travel in the country.

Twenty ticket checkers of Central Railway made individual receipts of more than one crore rupees as fines.

This is the first time that any zonal railway has achieved this milestone of Rs 300 crore collections from ticketless travelers. Earlier Mumbai Division alone crossed Rs 100 crore landmark.

In the last financial year 2021-22 also Central Railway earned Rs 214.41 crore and stood first amongst all zonal railways in fine collection from ticketless passengers.

Mumbai Division has also crossed the Rs 100 crore landmark and earned Rs 108.25 crore from 19.57 lakh cases. Pune Division has earned Rs 24.27 crore from 3.36 lakh cases.
