Russia Rains Over 70 Missiles on Ukraine; Several Ukrainians Killed

In one of its biggest missile attacks on Ukraine, Russia showered over 70 missiles on different regions of Ukraine on Friday. This missile attack disrupted power supply in some areas and also prompted the Ukrainian government to order for blackouts throughout the nation.

As per reports at least three persons died when a Russian missile hit a civilian apartment building in central Kryvyi Rih.

Following this major Russian missile attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged western allies to supply more and better air defence systems to his country.

Kyiv fears that Moscow is planning a major attack on Ukraine in beginning of 2023 as till now Russia has not been able to take over any major portion of the country. Russia had invaded Ukraine on Feb 24, 2022.

Since October Russia is targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure by missiles. As it is a harsh winter in Ukraine, Russia wants to make it harsher by disruption in energy supply.

Ukraine’s army chief claimed that 60 of 76 Russian missiles had been shot down. Its Energy Minister German Galushchenko said at least nine power-generating facilities had been hit.

Ukrainians are facing much hardship this winter because of Russian attacks. Only one third of its residents are having both heat and water and 40% are getting electricity. The metro transport system is shut down.
