Russian Deaths In Rayagada| If Required, CB Will Completely Take Over Probe: Odisha DGP

Rayagada: As the mysterious deaths of two Russian lawmakers in Rayagada hotel gained international interest, Odisha police has launched stren action to probe this matter.

On Tuesday morning, Odisha DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal along with DGP South West, Rajesh Pandit and Rayagada SP Vivekananda Sharma reached the hotel to monitor the investigation.

While coming out of the hotel, DGP Bansal said that the state police is investigating the matter properly and Crime Branch will probe the matter if required.

“Crime Branch will assist district police in the probe to find out the circumstances leading to their death. If required, CB will completely take over the investigation of the case,” said Odisha DGP Sunil Bansal.

Superintendent of Police, Rayagada, Vivekananda Sharma, said that Vladimir died last Thursday after he suffered a heart stroke. Antov, who was staying as a roommate of Vladimir, died Sunday after falling from the third floor and an investigation is underway to find whether it was a suicide or an accident.

Meanwhile, speculations are rife that the deaths of Antov and Vladimir were not mere accidents or medico-legal cases, but probable ‘political assassinations.

According to the police, Antov died after falling from the third floor of the hotel, barely 48 hours after his companion B Vladimir died of a heart stroke.

Though nothing specific has transpired in this regard, and the police is tight-lipped, it remains a mystery, why a Russian billionaire would choose Rayagada to celebrate his birthday – hard to comprehend!
