Senior Clerk Caught Red Handed by Vigilance While Accepting Bribe in Keonjhar

Cuttack: Debasis Mohapatra, senior Clerk, District Ayurveda Medical Officer, Keonjhar was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from an Ayurvedic Assistant for preparing an arrear salary bill and its withdrawal.

The entire bribe money was recovered from the accused Mohapatra and seized. The erring official had demanded Rs.15,000 from the complainant for withdrawal processing of the arrear salary bill of the complainant and other Ayurveda assistants. Against the overall demand of bribe Rs 15,000, accused Sri Mohapatra, while receiving the bribe of Rs 5,000 as advance was nabbed by the Vigilance team on Tuesday.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations related to Mohapatra to investigate the disproportionate asset angle.

In this connection, Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.26 dt.25.09.2023 U/s 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress against accused Mohapatra.
