Shankaracharya Not Permitted to do Parikrama of Kashi Vishwanath -Gyanvapi Complex

Varanasi: The Varanasi district administration did not grant permission to Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati to come out of his Vidya Math when he declared to do a Parikrama of Vishwanath Temple-Gyanvapi complex on Monday, reported The Statesman.

The Shankaracharya was forced to remain inside as the police force was deployed at all places including gate number four of the temple of the Math.

According to police sources, the Shankaracharya was not allowed to perform the parikrama as restrictions under Section 144 were in force in the area.

On Monday morning, the Shankaracharya announced that he would make a parikrama of the Vishwanath Temple and the adjoining Gyanvapi Masjid at 3 pm. The administration stopped Swami Avimukteshwaranand from going there as Section 144 was in place.

Criticizing the move by the UP government, the UP Congress president Ajay Rai said, Swami ji was ready to go alone but the administration put him under house arrest in Vidyamath located in Sonarpura. Rai said that the BJP government is anti-Sanatan Dharma and this kind of behaviour towards a revered Shankaracharya is extremely shameful and disturbing to every Sanatani.
