She Begged for Rs 500; But Got Rs 51 Lakh as Help

Thiruvananthapuram:  A woman who had begged for Rs 500 from her son’s teacher to buy food for her children is now showered with financial support worth Rs 51 lakh. When in extreme financial trouble, she had begged before his son Abhishek’s teacher Girija Harishankar for Rs 500 to buy food for her children.

Girija gave her Rs 1000. Moved by the plight of the widow, she also posted her sad situation on social media with a request for financial assistance. She also provided Subhadra’s bank account number for crowdfunding.

Her social media post went viral and in just two days around Rs 51 lakh rupees got deposited in Subhadra’s bank account.

Girija said, she had visited Subhadra’s home and witnessed the dire poverty she was living in. There was nothing in the kitchen for the children to eat.
Netizens appreciated the teacher’s kind intention.  Now Girija wants Subhadra to finish up her half-constructed house and live in better conditions without having to beg before anyone for her children. According to Girija, a portion of the money received by Subhadra will be utilized to finish the house that Subhadra’s late husband started constructing. The rest amount will be deposited in the bank for the future expenses of the family.
