Shiv Sena office in Parliament allotted to Shinde Faction

New Delhi: While the Uddhav Thackeray group has put all its hopes on the Supreme Court to regain the name and symbol of Shiv Sena, the office allotted to the Shiv Sena in the Parliament House in Delhi was allotted to the faction led by Eknath Shinde on Tuesday. On February 17, Election Commission allotted Shiv Sena’s name and poll symbol to the Eknath Shinde faction, which is now challenged in Supreme Court by the Thackeray faction.

On Tuesday, the Lok Sabha Secretariat allotted room number-128 to the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena. This room was earlier allocated to the Shiv Sena party.

Through a letter, the Lok Sabha Secretariat provided this information to Rahul Shewale, the leader of the Eknath Shinde faction in Lok Sabha.

The Uddhav Thackeray faction on Tuesday approached the Supreme Court to stay the Election Commission’s order to recognize the Eknath Shinde faction as the official Shiv Sena. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal submitted the plea on behalf of the Uddhav Thackeray faction before a SC Bench led by CJI DY Chandrachud for urgent listing. Sibal requested the Bench to take it up on Wednesday morning. The Constitution Bench is also dealing with issues arising out of the recent political crisis in Maharashtra.

The hearing of the plea is scheduled to be held on Wednesday.
