New Delhi: Congress has finally zeroed in on Siddaramaiah as the next Karnataka Chief Minister, reported India Today quoting sources. DK Shivakumar, another contender for the Karnataka CM post, is likely to be offered the Deputy CM post with key portfolios.
The swearing-in ceremony is likely to happen on Thursday post lunch and Siddaramaiah may take the oath of office alone. The Karnataka Congress legislator party meeting will be held on Thursday at Kanteerava Stadium at around 3.30 pm.
DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah met the party’s top leadership in New Delhi on Tuesday. Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday held a meeting with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge over the selection of the CM’s name. In the May 10 elections to the 224-member Assembly, the Congress got 135 seats, while the ruling BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular) secured 66 and 19, respectively.
