South Odisha Expects Heavy Rain Due to Cyclone Michaung over Bay of Bengal

Bhubaneswar: The low-pressure area created over the southeast and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal has turned into a depression and intensified further. It is expected to move west-northeastwards and intensify into a deep depression on Saturday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that this cyclonic storm is likely to cross South Andhra Pradesh adjacent to Tamil Nadu coast between Chennai and Machilipatnam around the evening of December 4.

After that it will start weakening and move towards Odisha.

As a result, several places in Southern and coastal Odisha districts may experience heavy rainfall on December 3 and 4.

Yellow warning has been issued to five districts- Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam.

Moreover, the amount of rainfall is likely to increase on December 5 and 6. Fishermen have been cautioned not to venture into the sea from December 5.
