Spear Pierces Teenager’s Belly in Balangir

Balangir: A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured when a spear pierced his stomach at Ailbhata village under Belpada police limits in Balangir district on Sunday.

This accident occurred while the boy identified as Raju Senapati was playing. According to reports, the spear that has pierced the teenager’s body is smaller in size in comparison to regular spears. It is locally known as ‘Gujer’.

The injured boy was initially rushed to Belpada Community Health Centre (CHC). As it was not possible for the doctors at Belapada hospital to remove the spear from his body, the injured boy was shifted to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College Hospital in Balangir.

On December 17, 2022, a similar accident occurred in the Balangir district. A Class 9 student was seriously injured when a javelin pierced his neck during the annual sports meet at Agalpur Boy’s Panchayat High School in Balangir district. A team of doctors at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir had removed the javelin through surgery.
