Surgeon’s Services Terminated For Accepting Bribe In Keonjhar

Keonjhar: A surgeon was removed from service by the Keonjhar Health Department on Wednesday on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe.

The accused has been identified as Dr Ganpati Pradhan.

According to reports, Pradhan demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 in two instalments for conducting the post-mortem report of an old woman named Kalavati Behera of Kardangi village. However, Kkalavati’s grandson recorded the entire discussion.

Later, the matter came to the fore after the video clip went viral on social media. Following this, Pradhan was served a show-cause notice.

Subsequently, the Keonjhar District Health Department terminated his service as per Clause-7 of the Contractual Service Agreement, the CDMO informed.
