Tamil Nadu Minister Booked For ‘Derogatory’ Remarks Against PM Modi

Chennai: A case has been registered against Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister Anitha R. Radhakrishnan for his alleged derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a recent meeting of the DMK party workers, police said on Monday.

Meignanapuram police confirmed registering a case under Section 294-B of the IPC (uttering obscene words in public) against Radhakrishnan following a complaint lodged by BJP Thoothukudi south district president R Sidhrangathan.

Sidhrangathan stated that Radhakrishnan made the remarks at a DMK gathering in Thandapathu, Tuticorin district, on March 22, criticizing the PM’s praise of late Chief Minister Kamaraj. Subsequently, a complaint was filed with the district election officer and collector G Lakshmipathy, leading to the FIR registration.

Describing Radhakrishnan’s words as “disgusting and despicable,” Sidhrangathan emphasized the need for appropriate action. BJP state vice-president Karu Nagarajan also called for stringent measures against Radhakrishnan, labelling his language as “vile” in a complaint to Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo.
