Tit for Tat, India Expels Top Canadian Diplomat, Directed to Leave India in 5 Days

New Delhi: The Indian Government expelled a Canadian diplomat hours after Canada expelled an Indian diplomat. A day back, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudea’s alleged that there was a potential link between the Indian government and the killing of a Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey of Canada.

In retaliatory action, the Indian government summoned the High Commissioner of Canada on Tuesday and informed him about the decision of the Government of India to expel a senior Canadian diplomat based in India. The concerned diplomat has been asked to leave India within the next five days.

This decision reflects the Government of India’s growing concern at the interference of Canadian diplomats in internal matters of the country and their involvement in anti-India activities, said MEA authorities.
