Ukraine may soon lose Bakhmut; Russian troops Intensify Attack & Claim 1st Major ‘victory’

According to defence experts, Ukraine may soon lose Bakhmut to Russia. Ukraine is clinging hard to Bakhmut, as Russian troops are almost on the verge of taking over the area. Russia has managed to advance slowly to the north and south of Bakhmut, threatening two main roads that supply Ukrainian troops there.

Alexander Rodnyansky, an economic adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said Ukraine’s military could pull back from the key eastern stronghold of Bakhmut. “Our military is obviously going to weigh all of the options. So far, they’ve held the city, but if need be, they will strategically pull back,” Rodnyansky said.

On Wednesday, Russian forces continued relentless attacks on Bakhmut. They tried to cordon off this eastern Ukrainian city. Russian forces claim it to be their first major ‘victory’ in the more than a year-long war.

But Ukrainian forces are fiercely resisting a Russian attempt to seize Bakhmut. They are throwing massive extra reserves into the bloody battle, Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of Russia’s Wagner mercenary force, said.
