Unidentified Miscreants Shot Goat Trader Dead, Loot Rs 9 Lakh In Sundargarh

Sundargarh: Unidentified miscreants shot dead one goat trader and looted Rs 9 lakh near Tarini temple between Chattenpali and Suruguda under Lefripada police station limits in Sundargarh district on Thursday.

According to reports, the incident took place while three goat traders were on their way to the Handipani goat market on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border on a motorbike when three masked miscreants intercepted them and asked the traders to stop and hand over their money to them.

As the traders refused their demand, the miscreants kicked the former’s motorbike and the traders fell to the ground. One of the traders collected the bag containing the money and tried to run away. He was, however, shot down by the miscreants, who fled the spot with the bag.

On being informed, police reached the spot and rescued the three traders and took them to a nearby hospital. One of the traders died on the way to the hospital, while two others sustained minor injuries and are undergoing treatment.

Further investigation is underway in this regard.
