UP Man Commits Robberies to Impress Girlfriend, Gifts Her Rs 60 Lakh from Loot

Etawah: Etawah Police in Uttar Pradesh arrested a gang involved in high-value robberies, including the mastermind and his girlfriend, totalling six individuals. They seized Rs 9 lakh in cash, stolen jewellery worth Rs 8 lakh, two illegal firearms, a knife, and three live cartridges.

According to SSP Etawah, Sanjay Kumar, the main accused, Paras Tiwari, aged 22, formed a criminal group to fulfil his girlfriend’s desires through multiple thefts, amounting to lakhs of rupees. The gang handed over the stolen money to Paras’s girlfriend, Mahima Singh, aged 24. Recently, Paras gave his girlfriend 60 lakh rupees for their illicit activities.

Authorities acted upon receiving a tip-off about rising theft cases in the city. The gang was arrested near a temple within the Kotwali police station limits. Initial investigations revealed that the gang primarily targeted desolate areas and closed establishments in the district, particularly jewellery shops. The stolen valuables, including gold and silver, were distributed among the gang members and later sold to a jeweller.

Further interrogation uncovered that the gang had conducted at least four significant robberies in the Friends Colony Ekadil and Kotwali areas of Etawah. Alongside Paras and Mahima, the arrested individuals were Amit Soni (23), Raja (20), Gyaneshwar Gupta (21), and Devendra Verma Sonar (33).

The leader and his accomplices have been charged and will be remanded to judicial custody, according to the police.
