UP Official Loses Job for Putting up Osama bin Laden’s Photo in Office

Lucknow: A sub-divisional officer (SDO) in Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) lost his job because of slain international terrorist Osama bin Laden. He was dismissed from service for allegedly putting up a picture of terrorist Osama bin Laden in his office.

Following an inquiry, UPPCL chairman M Devraj ordered the termination of this employee named Ravindra Prakash Gautam.

The inquiry found that Gautam used to idolize the slain Al-Qaeda chief. He had even put up a picture of this terrorist in his office. According to sources, this SDO was dismissed from service on Monday. He had put up a photo of Osama bin Laden in his office while he was posted in Kayamganj subdivision-II of Farrukhabad district in June 2022.

A video clip of his office room with Osama’s photo went viral on social media. Following the public outcry on social media against his love for the international terrorist, the Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam suspended the SDO and initiated an investigation.

Gautam used to idolize Bin Laden as he was also an engineer. “Him considering Osama bin Laden as the best engineer and pasting his photo in the office are signs of extreme indiscipline…. Despite being a public servant, he has done an anti-national act and an act which was against the corporation and has tarnished the image of the department,” stated his dismissal order.
