VSSUT Rusticates 2 Students for Thrashing Hostel mate

Burla: Authorities of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla rusticated two students for one year. They had allegedly thrashed a hostel mate.

A fine of Rs 25,000 each was also imposed on each of these two students along with two others who were also part of the violent incident.

According to sources, these four students studied in the eighth semester of the IT and Physics departments.

The incident took place on January 7. These four students allegedly beat up another final-year student ruthlessly over some small matter. The seriously injured victim was admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSR). His father complained before the police. The university disciplinary committee held a meeting to discuss the matter on January 9.

As per the recent order of VSSUT authorities, the four erring students have to submit the fine to the hostel development fund by January 20. During the period of one-year rustication, the two students will be barred from entering the university premises and hostel.

Earlier in September 2021, 12 students of VSSUT were rusticated on ragging charges.
