Wayanad Police Asks for Blood Samples of Missing Doctor’s Parents

Bhubaneswar: Wayanad police in a letter to Odisha DGP have sought blood samples of missing Dr Swadheen Panda’s parents.

Swadheen was a senior resident doctor at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. He is missing after the landslides in Wayanad in Kerala on July 30.

To identify Panda among the unidentified bodies and body parts through DNA matching, Kerala police have taken blood sample of his sister Somali Panda, who is in Wayanad.

“Blood samples of the missing person’s sister was sent to Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Kannur. The authorities, however, said that sister’s blood sample is not sufficient for the purpose and suggested for urgent collection of the blood samples of his parents,” the letter to the Odisha DGP read.

Swadheen and his wife Sweekruti Mahapatra along with Bishnu Prasad Chinara and his wife Priyadarshini were at Linora Villa at Chooralmala on a vacation, when landslides hit the area. Priyadarshini and Sweekriti survived the deadly landslides. Bishnu’s body was found on July 31.
