What’s ‘Amrit Kaal’ Repeated Several Times in Union Budget 2023

New Delhi: In the budget speech on Wednesday, Union Finance Minister repeatedly mentioned the term ‘Amrit Kaal’. “This is the first budget in Amrit Kaal, this budget hopes to build on the foundation laid in the previous budget,” she said at the beginning of her budget speech.
Later in her budget speech, she said, “This Budget lays a futuristic ‘Amrit Kaal’ for women, youth and marginalised communities” and “Our vision for the Amrit Kaal includes a technology-driven and knowledge-based economy, with strong public finances and a robust financial sector.” Several Indians must be pondering, what is Amrit Kaal.
What is Amrit Kaal?
The word Amrit Kaal is used in Vedic astrology. Amrit Kaal is the time when all auspicious things happen. It is considered the best and most auspicious time to start new ventures.
In 2021, during the 75th Independence Day, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi used the term “Amrit Kaal” for the first time. He mentioned Amrit Kaal to lay out a new roadmap for India’s development in the next 25 years. Calling this period a “culmination of hard work, sacrifice and austerity”, he said that this is a period of 25 years to get back what our society has lost in hundreds of years of slavery.
