Wild Bear Attacks, Injures Man in Malkangiri Dist

Malkangiri: Shyam Sisa, a 37-year-old man from Chapalpada village was seriously injured in a bear attack at his village in Khairput block of Malkangiri district on Monday morning.

According to reports, the wild bear injured his both eyes.

Shyam was in his paddy field near the jungle when the wild bear attacked him.

Shyam fought hard to save himself from the clutches of the wild bear. In the process, he received severe injuries. The bear allegedly gouged Shyam’s eyes.

Hearing Shyam’s cry for help, villagers rushed to the spot and chased away the bear. As the village is not having a proper road, the villagers had to carry injured Shyam for 15 kilometres to reach an ambulance that transported him to the Khairaput Community Health Center.

As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the Koraput District Headquarters Hospital.
