Woman Becomes Man to Marry Lover

New Delhi: A woman in Rajasthan opted for a sex-change operation to marry her lover. Aarav Kuntal (one who changed the gender) got married to Kalpana after a few years of dating. Both got married on November 4.

Aarav Kuntal was born as a woman. She was previously known as Meera. She was a Kabaddi coach in a government school where Kalpana used to study.

In 2016, Meera (now Aarav) and Kalpana became friends. After being friends for two years, Meera proposed Kalpana for marriage. Kalpana agreed to the proposal. But they were of the same gender.  As women it was not possible for them to get married. Moreover, same-sex marriage is not yet accepted by Indian society.

So, Meera decided to undergo gender change surgery.

“I always felt like a boy since childhood. So for me, the decision of changing gender was like the natural next step,” said Meera (now Aarav Kuntal).

Meera got her gender changed through a series of surgeries and hormonal treatment. The process started in 2019 with her final surgery in 2021, she became a man to get married to her beloved sweetheart.
