8 Critical in Head-On Collision Between SUV and Truck in Odisha’s Boudh

Boudh: Eight individuals, including women and children, suffered severe injuries in a head-on collision between an SUV and a truck near Bahira Chhak in Boudh district on Sunday morning.

The accident occurred around dawn, when the truck, reportedly travelling towards Sonepur, collided with the oncoming SUV. The impact left both vehicles mangled and the passengers trapped inside.

Alerted by locals, Baunsuni police and fire personnel rushed to the scene and extricated the injured with the help of residents. All eight were rushed to the Baunsuni Hospital in critical condition.

Police have seized both vehicles and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Initial reports suggest dense fog prevailing in the area at the time could have significantly reduced visibility, contributing to the collision.

“The fog was so thick you could barely see your hand in front of your face,” said an eyewitness. “It’s likely neither driver could see the other vehicle coming, leading to the terrible crash.”
